Why Intimacy is Important in a Marriage

Intimacy is important in marriage because it will make the relationship alive and exciting.

Intimacy and marriage are like couples that should partner together. The general perception is that couples marry because they have strong feelings of intimacy which could finally be consummated when they finally marry.

In marriage, intimacy is a very important factor and once intimacy is not there anymore the only thing why two people live together is because they are trying to abide by their marriage vows. A marriage that lacks intimacy is like an empty room, there is no more joy and excitement to make marriage work. Intimacy is one great factor in marriage that makes married life exciting and alive. Partners who maintain intimacy would have fun together and would have better chances of being together for the rest of their lives.

How much intimacy would one want to put into marriage? That depends on how much both of you as partners want. Intimacy varies from one person to another. There are people who use sex as the best way to maintain intimacy. There are those who prefer talking and doing things together rather than locking themselves in the room. Intimacy greatly affects marriage and what partners must do is to talk things over before marriage breaks down.

If you really are keen in making your marriage work; having quality time with your partner is a great way to achieve it. Having time together makes marriage more intact. If you do things together and always find time to talk, the barriers will have no place to stay. Even if you are too busy at work, always find some time with your partner.

As husband and wife, set a time where both of you could have a romantic dinner together either at home or in a nice restaurant. Develop the habit of sharing things together. Having fun together is what marriage is all about and only if both of you will work on it could marriage be fun and more meaningful in its essence.

There are also things that you should never do if you want marriage to stay alive and warm. These simple things are signs of an intimate connection which makes the relationship work better. You should never say things that will hurt your partner; if you did not intend to say it, say sorry and do not repeat it. You might be stepping on your partners toes and hurting him or her and once your partner is hurt, things would turn out different for both of you. Marriage starts to dwindle away when one partner takes the other for granted. Never assume that you are better and are more powerful than your partner. Remember to always make things fair and respect what your partner is.

If you have been both too busy, find time to have a break and have an exciting time together. Go to a place where only you and your partner could do things together and enjoy without interruptions from your children or work. It is always nice to spend time with your partner and do things you both enjoy.

Compliment on your partner’s looks, and accomplishments in work. Your partner would love to hear you say, "Wow, you look great! Or "You did a great job there!" Learn to always appreciate your partner instead of saying negative things. The words you say to your partner always count. If you are mad, don't blurt out any words. Wait until you have simmered down before uttering some words.

Always give your partner that loving touch and caress whatever you are doing. Touch your partner and smile and don't forget to always say, "I love you". Your touch will always ignite that intimate feeling and will keep your relationship exciting. Making love is not always what caressing and touching is all about. It is trying to make your partner feel that he or she is cared for and loved. Intimacy doesn’t have to be as wild but it could be whispering in each other’s ears and holding hands.
